Was going off AA route map 1.4 miles which is minimum fare in a taxi between 4 not worth switching yer engine on.

you could walk, but it's a fair way, plus you have to walk past The Molineux (yuk) or the custard bowl as us West Brom fans call it. You'll see why when you go past it. Plus the road is dual carriageway then up to Dunstall park is up a bit of a slope, the into a housing estate. I'd grab a taxi if I were you.

Well it says cheque or card, judging by what everyone has said maybe be best left till we arrive. Think it's just an extra bit of service they do, I think it's mainly for the wine tbh or if you want your beer on ice when you sit down.

It turns out that the bookies in the Ringside Restuarant is not only Ladbrokes, but will be staffed by my mates Vanessa and Neil. Furthermore, there is no minimum stake, she informs me, and you can also put on combination bets such as double, lucky 15's etc. Only problem (for them) is that they have old Halo tills and no automatic settling, so all bets have to be manually settled, using a calculator.

So don't go getting all excited about your nag coming second @ 6/4! Actually, don't even go each way on the short odds stuff, it's not worth the grief lol.

Return = �25, �5 x 5 + �5(stake). Total return = �30.

Each Way Bet
This consists of two bets, win and place. This means you will get some kind of return as long as your selection is placed and an even bigger return if it wins.
Example:
�5 each way Pentire 2.30 Ascot. Pentire wins at 8/1. The e/w terms on the race are 1/5 the odds 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Return for the win part of the bet = �40, �5 x 8 + �5(stake) = �45.
Return for the place part of the bet = �8, �5 x 13 / 5 = �13.
Total Return = �58.
Place terms for each race or sporting event vary, they are always stated online with the bookmaker with whom you are placing your bet.

Multiple Bets
A multiple bet is when you combine a number of selections that 'multiply' as they win. They can be difficult bets to land but the returns can be huge if successful. Multiple bets can also be placed e/w. Below are examples of the different types of multiple bets.

Double: Combination of two selections.

Treble: Combination of three selections.

Accumulator: Combination of four or more selections.

Patent: Three selections comprising of the following seven bets; three singles, three doubles and a treble.

Lucky 15: The same as a Yankee but with four singles to make fifteen bets in total.

Computer Straight Forecast
A horse racing bet where you have to select the first and second in the correct order.
Tricast
Like the computer straight forecast but you have to select the first three home.
Placepot
A horse must be selected to be placed in each of the first six races of a particular meeting.
Jackpot
Like the placepot bet but instead of place horses you have to select the winner of each race.
Scoop Six
A Saturday only bet where you have to select the winner of the day's main races. There is also a place dividend.

Re the "Lucky 15"---do you bet "to win" or "each way" or have to decide the type for each individual horse in the bet?

You have to go win or ew on the whole bet. You can't do either or on each horse.

with the announcement of 900 redundancies in our village and my son one of them---we are all at a low ebb and he needs our support - especially to care for his daughter this next weekend

So afraid we have to pull out of the meet--I'll try and get a refund fron the racecourse people----train fares not refundable though-grrrr
