Put this here as I'm not sure where else to put it!

My Jack Russell bitch has been behaving rather strangely coming up to her season. Has anyone else ever heard of a bitch scent marking? She doesn't do it all the time, just leading up to and through her season, and only indoors or in the yard, not when out walking.

I have laminate flooring and she will pee on anything remotely absorbent - but only a tiny amount. If she needs a wee and can't get out she will do it by the back door, but this isn't an 'accident'. She will drag down tea towels (now binned!!) or the blankets and stuff I have for the dogs, drag them all into a pile and pee on them, only small amounts so I didn't realise what was going on at first. Even down to nicking things from under the magnets on he freezer and peeing on it! Like I said anything vaguely absorbent is a target. She's healthy in all other ways, and I'm not really concerned about it (except the smell sometimes lol) but I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this in bitches?

It's like she's grabbing everything and peeing on it to say it's hers - like anyone else would want it when it's been peed on lol XX

                Re: The "Our Pets" Thread

I have my 2 girls Amber (GSD/lab mis) shes exactly 7 (was born 5 weeks before my eldest son) shes a big fat lump, got spayed and developed Large Labby syndrome! just dont go in to my place without one of us!!!
Luna, so named cos if you add TIC to the end of her name you describe her personality, shes a Rhodiesian Ridgeback/GSD mix and insane from the nose down!
They "dance" with the kids, and Amber has a habit of getting in the bath with them!

We have Star (the boss) who is a very small black and white Moggy so named because she has a diamond shaped patch of white between her eyes and my Son couldnt say crystal, bu would sit and sing twinkle twinkle little star to her, shes no known as MRS CAAAAAT!! She's a bit odd and thinks she's a dog, postie comes and amber barks her head off, and there's little Star in between her feet meowing!!

Apart from 3 kids who think they are monkies, thats us for pets.. although I am trying to convince Mr R about a couple of rabbits

Luna took to doing that, one of the main reasons we had her spayed!
If she is the elder dog it could be a dominance thing, or a way of telling a male, I'm here and im up for it!
                    Spaying solves the problem!

                        Re: The "Our Pets" Thread

Thanks, like I said more intrigued than worried. I may have her spayed, I was going to breed from her as she has quite good lines from working stock but I'm not 100% about that. The Westie is going to be spayed, again she has great lines apparently but poor skin which needs constant attention, a problem with her ear that the vet has said is due to the conformation of the ear and I don't think it's right to breed those sorts of problems into new puppies. her skin condition is what they call 'westie skin' and some Westie's are badly prone to it and it is usually passed on.

Yeh i agree with that, a lot of vets insist on destroying puppies with "deformities"!

They were going to have Luna destroyed cos shes "small"... shes perfect! Personally I think its more humane to have them spayed/nutured as they dont get womb complications etc.

All our amnimals have been the last to go, we take in waifs and strays
