  • What the best Decking Oil ?

    Hiya

We've just had a load of decking done in our garden and want to treat it with Decking oil, but I've heard that some of them are basically rubbish.

Has anyone any recommendations please ?

In my experience the best one is Cuprinol 'Total' decking oil.

      Cuprinol Total Decking Treatment

It's about 30 sobs a tin though and B&Q have recently withdrawn it from sale - presumably because of it's high price tag.

Yes, agree that it is expensive, but very good.

On jobs like this you want something that will last and stand the test of time as you do not want to be doing it every summer so yes while the purchase cost may be high in the long term it will be better value and a wise choice
If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

Try this link. I make longbows and this company is very helpful. Is the decking softwood or hardwoos?

I hope that the builder has put some webbing under the decking, in order to keep out any visiting rodents!

Its softwood apparently, I've done a load of reading and B & Q's own brand decking oil has some grat write ups.

Yep all webbing done, all round the garden including under the slate too.

Sapphy, why do you need decking oil, surely the timber used was pressure treated? Is the oil for appearance or to prevent the wood from rotting?

Hiya I suppose its for appearance mainly, its nice to have it all looking nice and neat isn't it.

Anyways the people at the timber firm have recommended either Cuprinol Decking Oil, (not the treatment or paint though, apparently they are dire) or B & Q's own make decking oil. So I suspect we'll run with one of them.

I'll report back once its done and let you all know what its like.
