Just that i think your first thought afterwards are about your finances /wills life assurance etc - what would the family have done had it gone the other way.
Brain damage is unlikely - bordering on impossible - considering you did not lose consciousness at any point. Any feelings of stupidity are all your own work and not related to choking recently.

Personally, I'd prefer to dwell on thoughts of relief, gratitude, thankfulness and appreciation than what might have happened, because it did not.

What you are feeling is perfectly ordinary. It is termed survivor guilt and usually follows a feeling of elation because you survived. Once that subsides, you are left with the "what ifs..." but you can deal with it in a number of ways. Talk about it; take action - such as retraining in First Aid; restore a sense of safety and stability by getting back into your daily routine; challenge these irrational thoughts about what might have happened simply because it did not and finally, with regard to what your family would have done without you, purchase or top-up your life insurance. Thankfully you did not die this time, but it does not mean that you never will.

These are things you can do to help and the feelings will pass soon...oh and if you are going to eat meat, get some sharper teeth.

I was joking! I had plenty of blond moments before it happened - for example on Friday I tried to dissolve a blockage in my dishwasher with hot water and fairy liquid and then put it on a hot wash without putting the filter back in.
I know you can guess the rest - it took me hours to clean the foam off the floor and from inside the dishwasher .

And yes I have had every joke under the sun regarding chewing meat cutting up food etc etc. I honestly can not remember why it went down the wrong way wheher I coughed or something but I was intending to chew!

If you had come to brum you would know I have a fine set of knashers but I am thinking of becoming vegetarian.

I am taking a day of next week to sort out all paperwork just in case - especially as I just cancelled some PPI - typical.

But I meant it ,thanks for all your comments - as they say - its good to talk

I'm glad you're OK, but this just brings home that we all need basic first aid training, think I'm going to suggest it at work for young parents.

Re: MOH saved my life tonight

Our landlords have agreed to run first aid courses on our industrial estate for all the units - about 50 plus firms - so I have taken some action.

Have just found out I have made quite a few mistakes this week that I did not even spot - my sales /director has found them and has helped me out :embarassed:
I know I wont get into trouble but as a Director a bit embarrassing .

Going to have a good rest at the weekend and try and re-charge my batteries.

And then as suggested onwards and upwards!

Have a great relaxing weekend with your family, and recharge your batteries. You'll more than likely see things a bit different now and it will all be for the good. We spend far too much time worrying about things that we can't change and not enough valuing the most precious thing with have - time and family.

              Darn right

I am going to stop bloody dieting for a start - the high protein bit obviously didnt do me a lot of good did it!

And I have been doing strange things like looking at guest houses for sale in remote scottish islands where did that come from?

Also I am going to not save " best clothes" anymore - just wear them - dont go out much anyway so might as well make the most of them.

Also not going to worry about the calories every time I have a drink.

              Thats a start.

Sorry had to laugh at that!

Something in the back of your mind come to the surface? Something you always wanted to do and never thought would be possible because of distance/kids/parents etc?

Combine the 2 at home :tung:

                Thats a start.
I think we spend so much time in our lives worying about others and helping others that we forget we are supposed to be enjoying it!
The job I do is quite difficult working with families and children, but Ilove it, but I forget sometimes that I work not only for myself but to make my kids lives better, and get so engrossed in other people that I forget about mine (not literally), or feel guilty that we can have nice things etc. I guess it takes something like you have been through to realise what is really important and how you want to spend/prioritise the time you have.

Hopefully we'll get cheap rates at the scotland B&B
