  • DEBATE : Men v Women car insurance

Ok time for a new Debate: Allegedly women get cheaper car insurance than men.
Why is this do you think?

    1. Because women drive fewer miles than men.
    2. Because women are more careful than men.
    3. Because women are better drivers than men.

Re: DEBATE : Men v Women car insurance

'From t'internet' not necessarily my own opinion...

It's not really that women are better drivers or have fewer accidents per se; it's that the accidents they are involved in costs insurance companies much less to put right. The type of road accidents involving men tend to involve speed and be more serious whereas accidents of women drivers are normally much less dramatic and at slower speeds. But let's not get into a debate that features the words 'rubbish at parking'

For purely risk costs reasons, then, insurance companies favour women drivers. In some cases, the degree to which female motorists are favoured over their male counterpart can be quite startling. For example, a seventeen year old male would find his policy quotes substantially more expensive than those received by his twin sister. In general, though, the difference in premiums between males and female drivers does decrease with age.

      and......

Why is women's car insurance so much cheaper than men's?

      Samantha Crofts
Some drivers – usually the male half of the population – often tar all women drivers with the same brush: they can't park and they drive too slowly (which sometimes simply means within the speed limit). But, car insurance companies obviously recognise the merits of women drivers, because they offer them cheaper car insurance premiums.

But why should women pay less for their car insurance? Well, insurers haven't been charging the fairer sex lower premiums just out of the goodness of their hearts – they are rewarding them for having fewer accidents and therefore costing them less money in claims, eating into their profit margin less than their male customers.

And, not only do women cause fewer road accidents than their male driver counterparts, but when they do have a collision, it is much more likely to be less serious – a fender bender, rather than an expensive head-on collision involving other vehicles and a costly insurance claim.

Statistically, men have a higher number of serious accidents; they drive faster, they have more powerful cars that have more expensive parts to replace if they are damaged or stolen, and they get pulled over by the police for driving too fast on a more frequent basis. Research has also shown that men are more easily distracted than women, with their attention being taken from the road while they are driving, so there are plenty of reasons why women's car insurance is cheaper. :0

And we're not talking peanuts when it comes to the difference in cost between car insurance for men and women. Men have been known to get annoyed at the great disparity in price between a car insurance policy for a woman and the exact same cover for a male driver with the same driving experience and no claims bonus.

Some couples can save money by being on the same car insurance policy, especially if they live at the same address, but others have found this doesn't work for them, and find that the best quotes are to be had by going it alone and getting car insurance from two separate providers – and even then there can still be a dramatic difference in the cost for a male and female driver.

Women's car insurance has really taken off in recent years, especially with the emergence of specialist companies such as Sheilas' Wheels and Diamond Car Insurance which only offer car insurance for lady drivers. So, even though women might be more likely to hold you up at the traffic lights or take a few minutes perfecting that reverse park, there's good reason why the female of the species gets cheaper car insurance!
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Yesterday scientists revealed that beer contains small traces of estrogen.
To prove their theory, they fed 100 men 12 pints of beer and
observed that 100% of them started talking nonsense and couldn't drive...

Driving to town this morning on the Motorway, I looked over to my left and there was a woman in a brand new Mercedes doing 65 miles per hour with her face up next to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner! I looked away for a couple of seconds and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on that her makeup!!!

It scared me so badly that I dropped my electric shaver, which knocked the toast out of my other hand. In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel, it knocked my cell phone away from my other ear which fell into the coffee between my legs and DISCONNECTED AN IMPORTANT CALL!!!!!!!

                    BLOODY WOMEN DRIVERS!!!!!!!

When I was allowed to drive I was paying £300 a year fully comp for my Vauxhall vectra 2.2, now I have given it over to the mrs, who by the way has had three claims whilst I had none in 20 years. Her insurance is £210, which I find astonishing as she is a typical scary woman driver. That I even refuse to get in the car, prefering to walk everywhere.

At the pics the one with the helmet cracks me up everytime.

my dad once added me as a named driver for a month as I had to drive his car, when he phoned to take me off again he was told that he would actually be better having me as a named driver all the time as he would get his insurance cheaper.

my son pays nearly £1900 he is 19 next month he drives a BMW 316

Oh and by the way I think women drivers are the best:bolt:
