    Complaints data

Last Modified: 30/03/2015 We publish details of the complaints received by banks, insurers, lenders and other firms, and what those complaints were about. See the latest data and the most complained about firms and financial products.
Financial firms provide us with data every six months about the complaints they have received, what these were about and how they have dealt with them. The firms also have to publish this information themselves.
Making a complaint to a financial services firm is a free and straightforward process that you can do yourself. Find out more about how to complain.
Complaints from July to December 2014

Consumers made a total of 2.18 million complaints to firms in the second half of 2014. This is 7% less than those made in the first half of the year.
Payment protection insurance (PPI) makes up 48% of this with just over 1 million complaints. However the total number of PPI complaints fell by 177,981.
Aside from PPI there was an increase in complaints of 1%, mainly caused by an increase in complaints about banking and credit cards. Complaints for most other types of products decreased- find out more in the Most complained about products table below.

It would be nice/useful to see the complaints to number of consumers with that product ratio.
