Agree with Nattie about it being so important to read the OFT report. Unless I'm being over optimistic, because of the christmas spirit the report to me in brief says the OFT would love to have carried on the fight but couldn't as it would not be helping the consumers it represents. However, I get the feeling that they are 'pushing' if not too strong a word consumers to continue the fight as this is the best way they see redress will occur.

Again I have to thank all at LB for their unflinching drive to help consumers. The OFT like consumers are lucky to have you.

Had a few more thoughts on this one and so here we go....

Judgement rules out price but multiple considerations could be an issue.
Problem with taking action is that the OFT may well believe on the price issue alone that changes made could render some terms fair and others not but couldn't take action.
The Judgement re multiple considerations may well not be at issue with many consumers and since the OFT have to represent all consumers the numbers of people falling under multiple considerations may be hardly any.
The multiple considerations could have the "unintended considerations" ie that payments returned in spite of available funds as money paid in during the day.....
Apologies but had some time before work today and was looking over their announcement with a little bit more thought....some might argue too much.

        • Re: OFT drop case - What are the options for consumers with charges claims ?

          Hi Bob,
LOVED your post; it made me smile:-) you very eloquently, put into words, my own thoughts and opinions (yet somehow, I never can quite articulate in either the spoken or written word...). I would be very interested to know what others think with regard to the question you raised about the European courts? My knowledge of these (financial/consumer) issues is at best, 'embryonic', so its great to be a part of this forum and among people with a wealth of knowledge and dedication to basic 'fair play and justice for the common person. Sorry to hear you've not been at your best, but do so hope the new year brings you better things. Very much look forward to seeing more of your posts and thank you for your input. Yuletide felicitations and bah-humbugs and all that:santa3: CatX

Bloomin heck that's harsh! (understatement of the year!!!!) Whatever happened to the banks lowering charges for un/auth overdrafts???!!! It seems to me that they've actually increased this kind of charge by approx £5.00 (from the standard £35 fee). What gives? Is this a sign of 'back to business as usual' from the banks? God forbid!
