  • I should know this stuff

I worked in Banking for 10 years and I'm looking for a simple answer to a simple question. I've spent 10 minutes on a Lloyds terms and conditions to see whether there is a charge for going about £20 into a planned overdraft and I still am not sure. Don't post the link to their charges leaflet cos I have just spent my time working out what my blood group is to understand the answer.

Going to speak to the bank to see if they bloody understand their own damn terms and conditions. Planned overdraft if you have a free buffer on one type of account(if we all have an overdraft just bloody tell me that up to £25 it's interest free not that it depends on your terms and conditions.) FFS!

Lloyds charges are transparent. So much so you can't see them.

I believe the 1999 EU Regulations state any terms, in the situation of a consumer, must be clear.

OpenLaw15, I suggest you read your terms and conditions cos some of them are so bloody frustrating to read that you find yourself spending so long trying to find the basic question. Some banks do have live online messenger type help(I know NatWest do...but not Lloyds and this was one occasion when it would have been of use ).

I think there is no charge but I simply was not sure(and my lunch was right by the screen when I was typing so needed food!!!)

I would hope you could take that at face value, but somehow I suspect not.

However, earlier on it states about first £25 would be fee free within the planned overdraft on their classic account

I'll stick to quantum physics then. It's less confusing.

I think that is covered by ''fee free amount"

( excuse the cruddy underlining method used - Nibbs highlighting is much neater )

Sounds quite clear compared to how they used to be.

If you go overdrawn by more than £10 you're charged £6 a day ( for a max of 15 days in a month )

                        If a DD bounces you're charged £6 ( a max of 10 charges in a month )

It was the bit about still being charged even if they hadn't made the payment!
                            Love the clip @lecerc

Just so people know then cos different banks have different terms.

I am talking about Lloyds Bank

I used to work for NatWest but I don't use that account much because I did work for them and know how their staff work

Just so we are clear. Des8 posted up Lloyds TSB bit but here is the link:
                              https://www.lloydsbank.com/current-accounts/classic-account.asp

The problem is that it also says this(which confused the hell out of me):
                              • You can apply for a Planned Overdraft, where up to the first £25 is interest and fee-free
