    Re: Conditional sale/fowllers finance

I'm not sure how the charge for credit is worked out but in my eyes it's the amount borrowed plus the apr. Which is way out from what they say.

Total charge for credit is any fees, interest, charges etc excluding the capital amount borrowed. So it should be the £4k the car cost plus the total charge for credit which is the 27.3% pa over 130 months ( 10 odd years)

Thank you for correcting me, that's what I was getting at! Does this marry up with the TCC on the agreement?

My maths is terrible, but no, not at all. 27.3% is about £1k ( the loan is £4k as £300 was the deposit) BUT the £58 odd each week over 130 months does add up right.

The only TCC is what I have sent. I'm going to ring tomorrow see if I can lower my payments or hand the car back and come to some agreement over the shortfall

              Amount of credit is £4078
              APR at 65.5% is £2670
Total charge for credit is £3582
              Leaves £900 out

130 weeks which is 2.5 years!
10 years and the car would have rusted away!

                      Hi Amy,

Can you explain what you mean by they told you "it would be better for you"?

What is the car, how old is it?

Have you tried asking for an Early settlement figure, if you have only had it two weeks then you should be entitled to quite return the car taking into account its value and a large rebate and pay a small fee although it does depend on how old the car is.

There could be a possible element of misrepresentation but further information is needed.

                        Re: Conditional sale/fowllers finance

I've had this car which is a Vauxhall zafira 08 plate 1.6 petrol for 2 weeks today and I've put £200 of petrol into the car already. When I spoke to the over the phone about getting finance I said I wanted a diesal because my previous cars have been diesal but he suggested getting a petrol as it would be better and cheaper so I did and now I can't afford to run the car so it would be sat on my drive a lot due to it costing a lot to run. Fowlers are refusing to swap it to a diesal and the car finance company are saying I have to pay the full amount which is about 6000 to terminate my contract even though I've only had the car 2 weeks
