  • E-petitions - Please Sign

Having had just about a bellyful of reading about the lawless behaviour of Certificated Scumbags, sorry, Certificated Bailiffs, HCEOs, DVLA's Enforcement Contractors and police inaction, I have decided to do something about it and set up two e-petitions at Direct Gov.

One of my e-petitions calls upon the government to require the police to treat bailiff/HCEO misconduct as crime, which is what it actually is, and for bailiff/HCEO powers to be an integral part of police training. The other calls upon the government to terminate the contract of the DVLA's enforcement contractor, due to their repeated clamping and seizure of vehicles in contravention of the applicable legislation, and to return enforcement to the DVLA itself, using directly-employed DVLA staff, not private sector contractors.

There is also another e-petition, sponsored by Eric Randall, to crack down on bailiff misconduct.

As bailiff/HCEO misconduct seems to be getting out of control, the DVLA seem oblivious to the law-breaking of their private sector contractor and the police seemingly couldn't care less, a stand has to be taken, which is what I am doing.

Please sign all three e-petitions and encourage as many people as possible to do likewise. Network it among work colleagues, the motor trade, petrol filling stations, anywhere you think people who are fed up to the back teeth with bullying of the sort outlined above congregate.

As soon as the signature count on an e-petition hits the 100,000 mark, it triggers a debate in the House of Commons.

Thank you for your support and thank you to those Legal Beagles who have already signed these e-petitions.

If, like me, you only get 2 emails per year, "happy b'day from your bank" (£12 admin fee added), & one from a dodgy web-based forum demanding loads of my hard-earned dosh , you might miss the email asking you to confirm your signing of the petition.

You might also write to relevant MPs to lobby them about this. Nick Herbert of Arundel is Minister for Police.

                  Okay Guys and Gals,

Links for the two e-petitions I have set up are as follows -

                  Police crackdown on bailiff/HCEO misconduct - http://www.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/31752
                  Termination of DVLA contractor's contract - http://www.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/31748

A second bailiff e-petition, set up by Eric Randall, calling on the government to tighten bailiff laws is at http://www.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/21095

Thank you everyone who has signed so far. CAG have picked it up and are networking it as widely as they can. Also, Bailiff Advice Online are going to run with it. Hopefully, the government will be forced to act and not brush things under the carpet.

I think this may be worth repeating, too. We need to validate our signatures on the e-petitions.

Once you've gone through the stages on the e-petition, Bill, that is your signature. Or do you mean the signatures on posts? I'm going to change my signature. Thanks for signing and everyone else who has signed. It's early days yet, but do please spread the word.

I have signed both now BB

I think what Bill means to authenticate the signature you have to go back in once they send confirmation before your siggie is added.

Yes - that's what Chas and I meant. Our signatures are NOT placed on the e-petition UNTIL we open the email that gets sent to us, and click on the link to validate it.

I think it is very important to make this clear wherever these e-petitions are being posted, as it could make a big difference to the number of signatures.
