Having had just about a bellyful of reading about the lawless behaviour of Certificated Scumbags, sorry, Certificated Bailiffs, HCEOs, DVLA's Enforcement Contractors and police inaction, I have decided to do something about it and set up two e-petitions at Direct Gov.
One of my e-petitions calls upon the government to require the police to treat bailiff/HCEO misconduct as crime, which is what it actually is, and for bailiff/HCEO powers to be an integral part of police training. The other calls upon the government to terminate the contract of the DVLA's enforcement contractor, due to their repeated clamping and seizure of vehicles in contravention of the applicable legislation, and to return enforcement to the DVLA itself, using directly-employed DVLA staff, not private sector contractors.
There is also another e-petition, sponsored by Eric Randall, to crack down on bailiff misconduct.
As bailiff/HCEO misconduct seems to be getting out of control, the DVLA seem oblivious to the law-breaking of their private sector contractor and the police seemingly couldn't care less, a stand has to be taken, which is what I am doing.
Please sign all three e-petitions and encourage as many people as possible to do likewise. Network it among work colleagues, the motor trade, petrol filling stations, anywhere you think people who are fed up to the back teeth with bullying of the sort outlined above congregate.
As soon as the signature count on an e-petition hits the 100,000 mark, it triggers a debate in the House of Commons.
Thank you for your support and thank you to those Legal Beagles who have already signed these e-petitions.
