      Very Interesting!

The amount I believe was £10K paid probably into a company account, Sir Terry said at the time he was embarrassed by this and I understand
        the money went to CIN.

it was I think reported to be more than 10k never was it stated it went to CIN years later after this came to light Wogan said sorry and said he had paid something to CIN how much was that
Like a lot of others on Tv fundraising shows Wogan was rich enough to do this for free as for not knowing what he was paid his agent and manager would know they took a percentage

Actually I have had a quick look into this – simply ‘wavering’ his fee was not going to benefit CIN. It would also cause an issue with Equity apparently but I am not yet sure why. If he did pass it on to CIN or any other charity after it would have been a private transaction so we cannot say for sure what happened to the reddies.

Didn't know about Emu..........I reckon RH had a hand in it, though! :suspicious:

Maybe Wogan did get paid by the BBC for CIN but lets remember that it did not come out of CIN donations and without him CIN would not have made the difference it did. I remember many years ago ITC tried something similar that was rubbish and did not make much money.

I found Wogan to be funny, warm and caring.

While no one will be able to fill his shoes there are plenty of people who would be able to do a great job, Graham Norton being one, Chris Evans another. I would also pay to watch Julian Clary doing what he did to Norman Lamont

An accountant friend had dealings with Wogan he was far from nice remember he probably had scripts scriotwriters and auto cue doing his shows .
Seems he was hero worshipped same as other entertainers some now in prison for disgusting offences

Why on earth would you bring the crimes of others into this or do you believe in guilt by association.

Is it possible that your accountant friend gave cause for Wogan to be less than nice?

I just remember him as being a constant and consistent entertainer

As for some of the 'others' well
I never liked Stuart Hall - he was slimey
DLT was just not my type of entertainer
                        Saville gave me the creeps

These are just personal opinions and there are plenty of people that have not been charged with sex offences who also find unlikeable , doesn't mean that they are guilty of anything

It seems clear that he was devoted to his family and we should leave them in peace to grieve

I do not know if anyone heard that radio broadcast made by John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) in 1978 and not broadcast at the time? In it he said that he and most others knew what Saville was up to. Now I remember I was told never to watch the Sex Pistols or play their music as it was pure evil! Much better to watch that nice man helping children on Jim will Fix it!
Anyway…:focus: I did watch that tribute to Terry Wogan last night and found it rather moving. I was a big fan of his radio show and even in Ireland I remember the radio in the Kitchen was always tuned to the BBC for his show.

Think we can agree to disagree on Wogan for me an overpaid talker

Remember Savilles abuse only became public after his death he worked for the BBC an orginisation who covered up for him.
