I don't mind cold calls, myself.

Obviously the information commissioner feels the same.
Advertising, cold calling, selling, and marketing etc all produce sales, which produces work, which helps the wheels of society to turn.

End sales, and we are are all washed up...... ?

Most cold calls that receive complaints aren't really IMO genuine sales calls - it's PPI, accidents, scam microsoft engineers, ''green'' energy (like the ''free''solar panels), surveys ( which are just lead generators for more cold callers ) - it is quite horrendous.

I'm quite happy to speak to genuine sales callers - I quite like a chat with the 'why not switch your electric/gas to us' guys, but the extended silence, call centre racket in the background and (sorry) very poorly spoken English usually just get hung up on.

Fair comment!
I enter PPI and PI cold calls on my phone such, so that I don't have to bother answering again.
But I've never had to report a cold call, whereas I have taken action against shop security staff 3 times over a 25 year period. My biggest short-circuit is all about bad store security operatives.......
