Can anyone find if Activ Kapital (UK) Ltd or the PRA Group Ltd are registered with the ICO and hold a data controllers licence or even ever held one.............I've searched the ICO register on both and can't trace them.

I'm trying to help a friend of a friend who's wife has two default entries on his credit file for the same MBNA debt.........one by Link and one by ActivKapital for exactly the same amount..it gets a bit more complicated because MBNA obtained an interim Charging Order on his wifes share of their jointly owned home....I'm just collecting info for him ....he is going to get a solicitor on the case ....if I can get as much info for him...............Something fishy going on IMO.......PRA group did not come into existence until 5th Nov this year ... so how could they hold a DPA licence under that name from 2003......I know that Activa changed their name but it appears they are using Activ Capitals old Data licence and I'm not sure if that can be done..........I am sure somewhere I read that as with a company registration number it dies when a company is dissolved .....but as usual I ramble as you know.
When a company dissolves the name can be used again...... but not the company number.Plus I don't think an interim charging order can be sold on...but I'm no legal person

Asking because the PRA Group website (as at June 2015) doesn't have that registration number.

The CompanyCheck website says PRA Group is 13yrs old (incorporation date 09/08/2001) and registration number 04267803 ?????

The ref Tools gave for PRA is the Data Protection Registration number not the company number. You can see the DPA register https://ico.org.uk/ESDWebPages/DoSearch - Company information is https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/04267803
