      Well done,

      On the energy theme

      1. Overview

For winter 2014 to 2015, you could get a £140 discount on your electricity bill through the Warm Home Discount Scheme.
The discount won’t affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.
Not everyone gets the discount - you have to qualify.

          3. Eligibility

You qualify for the discount if on 12 July 2014 all of the following apply:

your supplier was part of the scheme
your name (or your partner’s) was on the bill
you were getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well)

Shame, I was wondering if we'd be able to get something but we're not quite at Pension Credits yet...

            Excellent

I think some prepay customers are getting it automatically credited to their meters and monthly/quarterly peeps are having it taken off their bills, but it is quite nice to get an actual voucher.

Have you tried to use yours yet Ame?? I put mine on at the local shop this afternoon - what a palaver You're meant to take proof of ID, but the cashier doesn't know what counts as ID - wouldn't accept a passport!?! (says "I've only had to start doing these today") THEN I get asked if I want it put on the 'leccy or the gas?? (erm ... it's an ELECTRIC rebate)
I ended up putting it through myself  (showed her how to do it at the same time )

you don't NEED to be at PC age
Some suppliers can offer the discount to vulnerable people (eg those on a low income). Each supplier has their own rules about who else (known as the ‘broader group’) can get this help.
Check with the supplier if you meet their rules for broader group help and how to apply for it.
                - and there's a list of suppliers at the bottom of the page (https://www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-dis...me/eligibility) with links to their eligibility criteria K x

Yes it would The criteria do seem to be the same as qualifying for free school dinners ( we've got our application in for that at the moment) but if you aren't on pension credits then you seem to have to apply.

lol, we were at the counter for a good ten minutes with four co-op staff trying to figure out how to do it, I didn't need any ID or anything but I had taken the whole letter and they know me quite well. Told her it was fine to use me as a guinnea pig as she was likely to get a few over the next couple weeks lol.
