more worrying, last night, after using an XP machine, an app installed on both chrome and Firefox ( dont use ie ), without permission, with escalated privileges. general crawler it was named. Its the first time i have seen an app be able to do this without permission from the user, without downlaoding or clicking anything, just by visiting a website

mailwarebites, found thenregistry entries and driveby downloads, and its been reported to the dev teams at FF and CH,

If you have any machines running xp, check them with a mailware and decent AV program. it would not work on win7,8 or any linux,
crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even

We have several generic and personal email accounts at work (a largish international airport) and we ALL received this email to both generic and personal accounts. We all use Windows 7.

It looked on the face of it that it was a mistake and gave the same credit card number in each email. It actually didn't seem to ask for any money just to go to a link to download Adobe Reader (most people would have that anyway).

I didn't pay it much attention, just deleted it and reported it to our IT Dept.
They were out to get me!! But now it's too late!!
