Re: Fred Goodwins house vandalised
The home of former bank boss Sir Fred Goodwin has been attacked by vandals.
Police outside Sir Fred's home after attack
Windows were smashed at the villa and a car parked in the driveway was also damaged.
Sir Fred, ex-chief executive of Royal Bank Of Scotland (RBS), was criticised after he was given a pension worth £700,000 a year, despite the bank being bailed-out by the Government.
The windows of a Mercedes were smashed in the attack early this morning in Edinburgh.
Lothian and Borders police are investigating a report of vandalism, it is understood.
It is not known if anyone was in the house at the time of the attack or who reported the vandalism.
Sir Fred's pension was criticised
A police car is now outside Sir Fred's home in the upmarket Morningside area of the city.
Three smashed ground-floor windows of the stone villa were clearly visible.
In the driveway, the rear window of a dark-coloured Mercedes S600 saloon was smashed, as well as the nearside rear passenger window.
There were no obvious signs of activity inside the house.
A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm we attended at an address in Morningside around 4.35am today.
"Inquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing. We are appealing for witnesses."

LSMINCTHThe charges coming in to the banking industry every day will more than pay the banks total legal bill for the whole test case so why wouldn’t the Banks want to "ensure Justice at the highest level"

Oh yes, let us all congratulate the mindless pondlife who did this. While we are at it, why don't we suggest they do more?
Then, once the country has descended into complete anarchy, the government will invoke Civil Contingencies Act 2004. which incidentally is equivalent to Article 48 of Germany's Weimar Constitution by which Hitler came to Power and under this Act Brown need no longer call elections and we become a dictatorship with him at the helm forever.
Does anyone still think it's a good idea?

Have to say I agree with Cet (in less strong terms) bloody stupid mindless violence gets no one anywhere, and one brick thrown through one blokes window doesnt mean the whole countrys going into anarchy, or anything of the sort.#staysafestayhome

Re: Fred Goodwins house vandalised
Thing is, whilst I agree he would not necessarily be the first person on my Christmas list, end of the day he has taken a deal that was agreed for him. Who in their right minds would say " Oh no, I have far too much money, and my morals are vastly superior to everyone else's, I don't need the dosh so I'm not accepting it, have it back?".
Whilst we may not agree with the pension award, until we walk in his shoes, who's to say what we would do with it? If someone offered me 700k right this minute, just once, never mind pr annum for life, you would have to get a crowbar on my fingers to stop me signing on the dotted line.
Whilst we may not agree with it, that does not mean we have to sink to gutter level and advocate vandalism. At the end of the day, Fred is a bloke with a family, and neither he nor they should have to live in fear, or be subjected to mindless vandalism in their homes. Until the law of the land changes and says anarchy rules, then I'm with Cet on this one.
The fact that I have green eyes and brown hair has nothng to do with it.......Is no longer here

Re: Fred Goodwins house vandalised
Yes well I was. But when my roots got to about 4", couldn't afford the hairdressers, I was due to be a matron of honour thingy at my best friends silver wedding blessing, and couldn't face turning up in Church and doing a reading with my hair looking a mess and my ex-husband in the congregation, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands, hotfoot to Adsa, and for the first time ever, dye my own hair. So back to brown it went, and I haven't looked back. Can now recommend Poundland's choc brown....(I'm downgrading lol)Is no longer here
