    Re: BT again!

Once it hits the Exec's office, things tend to happen! Fingers crossed for you.

For me they gave me a personal contact who had to report back to Ian Livingston himself every day. They ran a cable from an exchange 4 miles away as the local cabinets were full, purely to get me my line, and a line dedicated solely to me from that exchange. Huge cost, but they kept me informed and I have the phone number of a group which doesn't exist publically which I can phone any time I feel the speed is slowing and they do something to speeden it up again.

    I cannot fault them.

      Re: BT again!

No complaints initially, as I know we do have problems with a slow connection. I had the person from Open Reach sat in my living room a one point as I could not get anything but dial up.
She arranged a ADSL/Phone socket on the wall where the wire comes in its still slow 0.3 since the "upgraded" the exchange recently but thats due to the location and wiring to my house, the poles carry the mains electric cables and snake thought the estate, two roads leading into it but all the roads are unmade until these.
Nearest village had underground cables last year but I cannot see them connecting that to us any time soon.
Hoping for a result its only recently i have felt there service has gone down, unfortunetly since the out source of the "help" lines.

Sometimes wifi (wireless) connectivity can be disrupted by electrical appliances, Mobile phones for instances, you know when your near a tv and you hear the sound from the tv speakers and the image (if indoor arial) gets disturted just before the phone starts to ring. Well its the same with electrical appliances and wifi, as such applicances give of various electro-magnetic field of various frequencys, which we ourselves can not feel but do disrupt other signals. Note, even your neighbours applicances from within 100 metres from your Home Hub can affect your connection too. So if anyone of your neighbours bought a new appliances, that could explain the sudden issues with your wifi.

To see if that is coursing it, i suggest you login to your BT account and change the wireless channel to another channel.

Give it a try with various channels and see if any of them improve your wireless connection. Then get back to us.

Have you tried other channels, as channel 11 doesn't always work.

Have you rebooted the HUB each time after changing? As well as disconnect the computer and reconnect it to the wireless network?

OK BT why have you got it in for me?
Off wfi again for about half a hour.
Think they listened though because I got a call back to say "sorry" (also to ask if the "adviser" had been polite!)
Lets see if the promised call back late to day comes!

                          Re: BT again!

Just had a call from BT.
Very sorry blah blah blah etc.
She has listened to my conversation regarding changes and I did, apparently, agree to the 12 month contract.
I stated that I was confused about this and I thought it was a rolling one.
She then looked at the issues with my broad band connection and has kept the complaint open until this is sorted.
She stated that in view of this I may not be held to this, however I think it would not change as other providers use the same line and exchange so would it get any better?

thats no agreement for a new contract, were the words I am now restarting your contract, or this is a new contract do you agree to me doing this? used?
giving your phone numbers and account number is a way of locating your account, not agreeing to a new contract! That's like the Bank saying you gave us your account number, here's a loan.

Email the CEO as per Labman's advice and say you will be sending it via OFCOM as that is ridiculous!

Unless you have been physically informed you are in a new contract, and you are saying you agree to it, you an give all the account numbers you like without being in contract!
