  • Warning re:SKY HD M&S VOUCHERS OFFER

Been with sky for a considerable time but also had BT for broadband and phone and as I was not prepared to accept BT's latest increases I decided to switch those to Sky and Also at the same time upgrade my sky + box for an HD one.

This was last night and before the midnight cut off for the online order anyway before going to the checkout I decided to phone them to confirm everything the phone and broadband was all done over phone but the advisor said to get the Vouchers I would need to place the HD order online this I did and got an email confirming it.

I also took a screenshot of the online order just in case as it confirmed the Vouchers.

So alls fine so I thought fast forward to this morning I had an email from sky asking me to phone them as they needed to confirm some details to finalise the order so I get on the phone and eventually get through.

It turns out that the self install I requested is £15 but the order said free they said they can do one of two things 1) charge me £15 and then give a £15 credit on my next bill or 2) send a engineer out to install free so that is what I chose for this Tuesday.

Fast forward to this evening I go online to track order no mention of the Vouchers and the order date has been changed from the 24/03/2011 to the 25/11/2011.

Still trying to get through to sky now to see if those Vouchers still stand as I have this sneaky feeling that they have run out of Vouchers and have pulled this stunt to avoid giving them.

I will of course fight it as I have kept to my side of the contract and they may have failed.

I have the screenshots and the emails
So tell me if Sky make such an offer to get your custom do they have to abide by it I certainly hope so as it makes my HD PACK only £1.92 a mth

Well me own HD install is all green for tomorrow, even had the engineer call me up with an ETA.

Why this person chose self install when the engineer one was free is beyond me.
Sounds like a balls up all over TBH..

Mines an upgrade from Sky+ as well.
Makes a nice change for Sky to offer a strong deal to ALL...

LOL that person was me yes engineer install is ok its just the Vouchers I'm concerned about as the order date has been changed from the 24/03/2011 to today's date and that excellent offer finished at midnight last night.

Just have to wait and see I guess.
        I'll shout when mine arrive.

Mind you I have a feel the engineer will throw a wobbler when he sees the job he has to do.
We're moving the sky+ upstairs, with multi room, at the front of the house. Guess where the dish is

It was BT's April increases that forced my hand, I switched those too and got broadband free for 3 mths then only £7.50 a mth I pay BT £16 they also gave me line rental for £3.25 so all in a cracking deal

Yes please let me know when you get yours although they do say it can take upto 45 days still I have the emails and online order sceenshot to prove so I dont think there will be a problem as I say it was the order date change that threw me a bit

              Bingo.

So he'll either do a professional job and route it through the house, or think sod it and lob it over the roof

Our living room is also at the front, but the first engineer did a pro job on it, and spot on it is as well.

That not a good idea as it will be open to the elements like the sun etc a lot hotter on the roof than it would be pining it along a wall.

                Good Luck with that Ben

My old neighbour had a Sky+ install with it thrown over the roof a few years back and it's been fine, but we'll see what they decide tomorrow.

A Sky contractor...now what do you think he'll do?

I have not gone for HD yet, since it appears to me at least, that it is aimed squarely at those who watch football and I don't. Ever.

                    So, is it worth it?

How many connections does an LNB have ? thinking of moving our SKY + BOX upstairs to bedroom but we already have multiroom with a standard box in my mum in laws room that has just one cable were as the SKY+ has two

So not sure if there would be room on the dish

Fair point there Cet, but this offer was too good to turn down.
Free box & install along with a ton of M&S vouchers
Downside was you had to take the HD pack for a year.
factoring in the vouchers it works out as £23 extra for the year.

I don't have sports, but do have movies, so we'll see.

PF, a normal Sky+ install is a quad LNB, so you should be all good there.
For complete Sky+ functionality, ie recording a different channel, you need twin sat feeds.
You can run it on a single feed though.
Still get most of the functions, but limited to recording the current channel only.

You can get quad and octo LNBs, how many outputs do you want?

Well dont need record as that will be done on the HD box just need to view channels thats all so a single feed will do it then :tinysmile_grin_t:

Indeed £1.92 a mth for an extra 50 odd channels has to be good :tinysmile_grin_t: that turned it for me and BT's quarterly bills off £195+
