Re: Switching from BT to SKY

    Not very happy.

No problem transferring Line rental and calls on 23rd , however, have just spoken to Sky and they are unable to switch the Broadband as our download speed is too low.

So now I have to go back to BT and tell them we will be staying with them.

Can you not use another supplier as BT are expensive

      Have a look here:

      http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker

That will tell you what suppliers are available also check the LLU operators to see if you are on a Local loop unbundling.
If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

        Update.

Checked couple of other suppliers and decided to try eclipse. At £20.50 a month for 50GB limit, higher than I would have liked, but not much option due to low download speed.Put order through online and then rang B.T. for my MAC Code and was offered unlimited on 12 month contract for £16.10 a month. So I've decided to stay with B.T. (as they say better the devil you know)

Not too worried about the the 12 month contract as it will be at least that before any improvements are made to our line and when they are I can review my options.

Now I just have to let eclipse know

Re: Switching from BT to SKY

For God's sake don't go with Eclipse. I was with them for several years when they were regularly rated the best ISP for service and quality. However, they were then taken over by another company (can't remember which one) and the broadband service went from excellent to diabolical. There were loads of complaints about them at that time, and they lost a HUGE swathe of customers at that time - customers that (like me) had been with them for years.

Eventually, I switched over to Sky (about 3 years ago) and have received a good service from Sky ever since. From what I can see, Eclipse are still nowhere near the best rated ISP's in the country so it is highly unlikely that their service has improved that much.

Quite a fall for an ISP to be regularly voted the best to relative obscurity within a few years.

Letter received from B.T. on Saturday claiming still owe over £60.00 and if not paid immediately will either restrict or disconnect broadband.

Am now writing to them advising that copy of all correspondence has been sent to OFCOM and that should the dispute not be settled by 16th May(8 weeks after my original complaint of 21st March), I will also involve the Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme.

Re: Switching from BT to SKY

Received Phone call from B.T. last night(confirmed in e-mail today) apologising for the misunderstanding and that the follow ups to the outstanding amounts would be suspended. All adjustments will automatically be included on my next bill in June.

Re: Switching from BT to SKY

Just phoned Sky to ask about the deposit of £30.00 I paid for the Broadband in March.

Nice young man processed a refund while I waited and confirmed that this would be back in my account by end of week.
