Hi, everyone.... I keep getting letters from my water supplier stating I have missed a payment. I have not. I pay it monthly. I pay £25 approx per month via a booklet at a payzone point. I have noticed that the recurring letter states that I must pay about £10 more ontop of the ficticious missed payment. I think they are trying to get money from me by keep putting this extra charge on too, but the main thing is that I have not missed a payment ever. Anybody else had this situation.? Do I send them photocopies of all my payments and ask where is the missing one, knowing it won't exist, .. and ask them if they have added extra charges (adding insult to injury) Not sure a phone call will even sort it out...time consuming maybe...?

You should ask them for a breakdown on transactions to see where there might be a missed payment. Does it say when the missed payment was in these letters?
It may be your payment date is different on their system to what is stated in your book so every time you make a payment it's a day late so it flags up an auto generated letter saying you missed a payment. I do think calling them would be a good idea to get this sorted and find out where the missed payment could be. If paying via Payzone then payment will take approx 5 working days to filter through. The only wiay round it is to pay about 1 week earlier when it is due. You should also check your credit file in case the water co are marking you as a bad payer.Comment

Take it from me .. they mark you as AP ... or default .. just done it to me. I'm in the process of trying to get a 2-year-old default took off. They are very liberal in telling you that they report you ti credit reference agencies and didn't tell me at all. ICO, county court here I go .. did they tell you they reported to a CRA (Equifax)??? A gang of control freaks they are !!Comment

Thanks for replies everybody... well Apollo14LMP that sounds like stuff I heard before. I am now convinced from other stuff I have read now, that they try to make peoples life difficult for not "conforming"..for instance i will neither have a meter nor do direct debit. I almost feel like letting them continue their letters (possibly computer generated) and if they try to take me to a court then I have all the proof that I have paid...the only thing then is the next hurdle of a court siding with them for any kind of monetary gain..."allegedly".... They have never mentioned anything about reporting me to a credit reference agency...but I wouldnt put it past them..Comment

Hi I have amended my earlier post as it was done on a phone and there seems to be a typing gremlin in there :-) . I am currently with OFWAT, ICO regarding UU - they offer poor service - uncaring bad attitude call center staff. If I cannot get the default taken down by the ICO can a County Court order them to take it down and award damages. Up to now they dont appear to have much data and records on my old account. The default notice they cannot prove they ever sent out - so if they dont take it off will need to see what I can do. Sorry I ever rang these people with personal details ! they trick you into giving your date of birth why ? I think they dont like people knowing how much data they have about your their customer.

I have had my default removed* *. .. due extenuating personal circumstances and UU goodwill im just glad its gone beware they report to Equifax. You will only find this out by checking on Equifax site. UU sre not great at telling people of their reporting activities. There was a lot of fuss about allowing utilities access to CRAs and the issue of compliance by these companies was one of the concerns. A deal was hatched with the ICO that gave these companies carte blanche with credit files. Beware of them trashing your files and name ....Comment
