  • Tafflaff V N Power (Read this may affect you)

I've got a problem with N Power electric , i've been paying £50 per month direct debit , now they sent me a bill for £1100 underpayment (this is only for a years supply btw.) I cannot afford to pay this amount they want me to pay £270 per month to pay off the debt and pay for my monthly electric....(yes just electric) . They will not even check to see if maybe the meter is wrong. Have been in touch with energywatch and the higher complaints service in N power and are about as much use as a chocolate teapot, or lets say an ashtray on a motorbike or even central heating for a snowman (lets try and keep this topical)*** I really advice people, if youre having estimated bills to phone through correct readings regulary. Any help or advice here I would really appreciate.

*** Feel free to add your own energywatch/supplier analogy.

Taff do a meter reading check yourself. Each dot for 7 days at the same time each day check the meter. Once you have this info they can not refuse a check.

To add to Sams post, if you have economy 7 or similar, then do a reading on each rate (so once in day and once in night) at same times.

Also I assume you have checked the readings etc havent been transposed halfway along the billing year. Thats what happened to mine with Eon and they tried to bill me £1900.

My bills have gone through the roof this year. Pay almost as much for them as I do for rent.

You have the right to have the meter calabrated by the electricity supplier, it will initally cost you about £100 but if it is found to be wrong then the £100 is refunded and a new meter installed. When I moved to my house the bills were stupidly high. I queried them and got the meter checked and changed, plus I was able to get £1200 refunded because the proof that the meter was wrong could not be disputed.
Borrow money from a pessimist -- they don't expect it back.
