I have recieved a reply to my email:
"Hello,
The car is still for sale in excellent condition, with no damages or any faults. All necessary documents available. My current location is Scotland due to my work commitments. If this is going to be a quick sale, I will let it go for £2000 delivered at my costs.
The deal will go through eBay and PayPal.
Thank you"

to which the answer was :

"The listing is ended now I can send photos with details by email. Recently moved and forgot to edit location. Currently in Dundee, Scotland, I am offering free delivery.Due to my location and since view or pick up is not an option I will agree for a 5-7 days of full inspection period ( after the date you receive the car ). This means that you have 7 days to inspect the car for any damages and decide if you want to keep it or not!
Because I will sign eBay's return policy, your money will be insured by them and you will have the option to reject the deal, only if we go through PayPal as well. If this is the case, you will receive a full refund (money back) from PayPal and I will have to take the car back on my cost!

I have just seen this thread...my dad has been a victim of this with the exact same email messages from the email alice@sbtpro.co.uk....unfortunately we had fallen for it and have lost a fair bit of money, but we are determined to to find out who it was...the advert was found on gumtree advertising a mercedes vito van...this was around the 28th September now...we have gone to the fraud dept, the police and given their bank account details to barclays...it was actually purchased on the 1st october and be delivered by the 4th october...does anyone else have anymore details? thanks.

Very nearly been scammed by the same person. This time Peugeot rcz. Reported to gumtree, who removed it in minutes. still in contact with the seller via email. What details do we need to bring this scumbag to justice? I've had the exact same emails and some bespoke ones too. Totally lost faith in buying a car privately. This site just saved me £8000. Someone deserves a pint on me!

On the basis that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is, I decided to do a little digging & a search of the email address brought me here. I haven't Replied yet, & to be honest, my first instinct was to just delete the email & forget all about it, but having read through this thread, I'm wondering if I should pursue things a bit & try to get further information from 'Alice' to pass on to you. If this would be helpful, can you give me some pointers as to what questions etc I should ask to get the info you require without putting myself in a position where they can get anything from me.

Seems Alice doesn't want to deal with me any more, I sent her a message suggesting that I didn't have either an ebay account or a paypal account due to problems with them in the past but wondered if she would be interested in selling me the van & taking payment by some other method, possibly some sort of bank transfer. After a couple of days with no reply, I sent another message asking if the van was still for sale, but still no reply. Could it be that 'Alice' reads these pages?
