tonight i have got the very same email from the very same people for a car i saw on gum tree a ford focus cmax for 2000 i said i wanted to test drive the car before i paid and also stated id sooner pay cash they told me as it was a quick sale to pay 1700 by pay pal and then when the car arrived id get 5-7 days to reject the vehicle and like a fool i so nearly paid but then alarm bells started ringing and the emails didnt sound right and then when i said tell you what if you want to sell the car you meet me let me test drive it and i pay cash otherwise dont bother and i didnt hear from them again i have had a very very lucky escape

How did you find LB ?

DO you have a link to the listing on gumtree, and have you reported it to gumtree/action fraud ?

Had they sent you any bank details to make payment to or did you not get that far ? (if they did can you post them up so we can try get the account shut down)

Hi guys well it has been over a week since my family member was scammed by these people who continue to take hard earned cash from honest people..

Police have visited who didnt seem interested even when we pointed out web sites like legal beagles amongst others who had many people sharing there story's , they advised us to contact the fraud squad for an update on the case, we did a week after first reporting to the police but again we got no real answers..

These scammers are using several email addresses and some end with .......@sbtpro.co.uk

Bloody frustrating isn't it !

Have you given Tools the bank account numbers already ? (just making sure)

Thank you, have passed that account on and it will be on TSB's desk in the morning, hopefully your instincts and willingness to share the info here will have saved at least one person who didn't think twice. So on behalf of them thank you.

it was my mate at work who told me about you , i thought i was the only person to have been attempted scammed but im just a fish in a massive pond these people are scum

Just to add to the current thread there is a VW Golf for sale locally (well it is virtually) and i think the same scam is as above. The email address is 'fhcs@sbtpro.co.uk'
I have emailed but as yet have not had a response. The phone number on the Gumtree advert (07880435644) is not a valid number and just has a solid tone.

If they reply to you, and you feel like playing along and pretending you want to buy it, if you can get the bank account details off them we can get that account shut down so they can't use it on anyone else.
