Yesterday a guy calling himself Stephen Morrison (stephenmorrison.army@hotmail.com) tried to sell me a 2009 VW camper van Reg GF59 ZRZ for £5,800 with exactly the same story as already posted on this site (he's in the army, going abroad soon, etc.) but this time he said he is on an army base in Edinburgh and is going to New Zealand in 3 weeks. The text of his emails is almost identical to the ones posted here coming from David Bennett in the army on the Isle of Man and heading off to Mali soon. The camper van with that Reg does exist, but who knows where it is. The advert on Caravans for Sale says it is located in Kent.''

''we where really silly, we got carried away, we where thinking of buying a camper van, been looking on different sites and found an oldish one on a caravan club link. Well to cut a long story short after a few e,mails the guy selling said he was a soldier, being deployed, and had to sell, he wanted paying through google wallet, we had a look for this and found it existed, we also had a look for his barracks and found them, so did bank transfer from Halifax to tsb in London. Later that day something clicked and we searched again to find google wallet do not do bank transfers. Called halifax fraud who said there was nothing they can do, and they can't contact the bank it was transferd to. The police have just passed us on to victim support even though we have now found this guy on different web pages as he seems to have been scamming people for years. Just so cheesed off we were so stupid ! ''
