  • Rma receivables and payments

Hi all, hoping for some help, Peugeot car was collected Friday by a guy, he gave me a sheet with a couple things wrong with the car, which I expected and agreed with, got a bill today for £800 , after reading a few things here, I'm wondering my next move, shall I contact Rma and agree to pay for the damage that was there, or simply ignore them, no way should I be paying for damage that wasn't there surely...???

Any help would be great and seems a very good and informative site....

    Cheers

Oh, I should add the damage comes to about £250 that I accept......

Just giving this a bump for you

        Hiya,

The sheet you were given when the car was collected shows the damage - then the invoice that has come through is for other damage as well that wasn't listed ? or they are charging over the odds for the agreed damage ?

Just wasn't clear which issue it was.

Hi, they are trying to charge for damage that wasn't on the original check sheet....(that wasn't there either), they have sent photos thru, which don't show anything really, just blurs !!!

          Thanks

                    Re: Rma receivables and payments

Firstly, can you clear up whether this was a lease car returned under the end of lease, a car bought on finance returned under voluntary termination, or was it a hire car?

Have they given you a detailed breakdown of the damage and a cost attributed to each item?

You don't dispute that there was some damage and are willing to pay a proportionate amount for that, but they have now itemized more damage which you dispute.

Hi, the car was returned under voluntary termination as we had got to the stage where we didnt owe Peugeot any more monthly payments
                      so could give it back.

Yes, they have gave a detailed list and photos (which show nothing) of extra damage they claim is more than 'wear and tear', and a cost of each item yes, i agree there is some small damage which was pointed out on the collection inspection, the guy who did that found no other problems and gave me a report showing the said damage.

Is this crowd reputable do you know,it reminds me of a private parking ticket at the moment.

                      Thanks

                        Re: Rma receivables and payments

I would advise you contact them, explain that you are only willing to pay for the damage agreed on the original inspection when the vehicle was collected, assuming that is that you are able/happy to pay £250.

As for the additional damage, make it clear that you firmly disagree and will not be making any additional payment over and above the agreed damage. These companies are renowned for "trying it on" and I very much doubt they would chase you for the remainder, if they did and you have the original report then it would be difficult for them to convince a Judge in the unlikely event of legal proceedings.

They usually do and wherever people do not question it they will continue to do so.
