If its a private/unadopted road there is probably no legal speed limit the house deed should show who has right of way along the road and the insurance tax situation should be directed to the police its theywho take action if the law is broken maybe the road is on common land and different rules/laws may apply as for all the suggestions regarding eggs etc lighthearted they may be but those actions could result in criminal charges.Maybe some legal advice from a specialist solicitor would be best advised
Indeed they were very clearly lighthearted!

Have you read the Government produced pdf setting out the position re the law? It is pretty clear - I don't see why specialist solicitors should be needed; certainly not at this stage.

The law regarding situations like this is probably far from clear the advice given on LB is always very good but at times a specialist may be the best way to find the correct legal position .In a case like the OPs there could be an easy answer who knows?

Personally I'd see my local Councillor armed with a print out of the pdf. If the council are unable to do anything, then start spending money on it if need be.

All of this makes me very envious of where Dogtired lives - it sounds idyllic!

How is telling someone not to damage a motor car a suggestion that they do damage it in that way?

Don't think I have the nerve to do any of the suggestions though!
May do the video but he has gone home again and left his wife behind!
Yes Labman we love living here, it can be a bit bleak in the winter though!

There are stories though of the road down was shaped like it is ( a "dog leg") being like it is for the smugglers as before the life boat ramp beach has cliffs on our side has the dunes!

He arrived yesterday and with a friend has tinkered with this thing for three hours this evening.
It sounded really "rough" Mr DT thinks it was "dirty" fuel.
He went out up the road and broke down! Had to push it back.
CC you didnt sneak down and put that egg in did you!msl:

Private roads are usually owned by the residents, as their land extends to the centre line of the road; the maintenance of such roads and insurance against any public liability is usually the role of a committee of local residents.

According to the deeds, yes we do "own"half BUT the other half? it is "owned" by the farmer whos field faces the houses.
Out of 38 houses about half are lived in perminetly, the others are "holiday" homes and I have no idea who owns them. There was a residents group but it is difficult to get everyone together due to the above!:mad2:

Not yet, he has it covered up whilst not in use, will try but cannot guarantee it, don't want to make it obvious, hes a bit of a strange man he had a go at someone walking a dog that stopped to pick up doggy poo was swearing and shouting at them and last year threatened Mr DT.
When they are here they leave an outside light on all the time at the back of the house there is nothing there but sand dunes!:tinysmile_aha_t:
