Hi all hope someone can shed light on this as I'm having trouble getting my head round it.
Let me first say that the police are not to blame here they where fair and tried to sort this out.
My Driver was stopped to day in a Lorry by the police because he went through a red light ( they did not ticket him for this ) on checking his licence they found that it had been revoked in 1999 so he was driving with no licence, my driver had no idea why he had no knowledge of an offence he passed his test in 1996 his HGV in 1998 all confirmed by the police DVLA. The DVLA and the police could not tell him why it was revoked or for what reason so they put the lorry in the dog house and gave the driver a £200 fine and 6 points for no insurance ( the lorry had insurance but not for him to drive no licence ). I can't understand this the driver has broken the law with the red light and not keeping his details up to date with DVLA when he moved houses there is a reason but its not really relevant.
I just would like to know your thoughts on this as I said the police are not really at fault they were really good about it and could only act on the facts.
If it helps 3 years ago the same driver was stopped driving my vehicle which was on a fleet policy for no insurance it went to court and was proved that it was insured and was thrown out all his details where checked and this never came up about his licence it seems strange.
I would like to think that the driver is telling the truth as I have known him for so long but I respect the police and trust them as well. I was stopped a few years ago in a VCP and they said that I had no HGV licence, I have been driving for 27 years with no points with every licence you can think of track vehicle, bike, crane, HIAB, HGV1 and a pilots licence which to be fair would not show up but they said sorry they made a mistake.
Anyway help if you can look forward to it.
Thanks
