  • GMAC car finance.

In 2005 I bought a car on finance 4 years at 0%, the agreement finishes in March this year. I was paying by DD until 2 years ago when they royally ****ed up - so since then have been paying by cheque or over the phone using my debit card.
Ok the problem I have is, that there will be £270 outstanding on this account in late payment charges - charging £15.00 a pop for a computer generated letter.
Seeing as the DD is cancelled there is no way they can get these charges from me.
Not sure which way to go now,
Any other ideas as to how I get them wiped out?
    Thank you.

You could always ask them for a settlement figure as this is due to finish in March and negotiate from there.

Thanks Curly I will, don't mind paying off two months now but I'll be damned if I am going to pay the charges.
Trouble is, the car agreement is in hubby's name and they won't talk to me even though it is my car. And trust me hubby would pay the charges, like he paid my speeding fine!

        Who said anything about talking.
ALL of this needs to be in writing.

Only four years old, and I will keep it until it goes to the knackers yard.

                      Re: GMAC car finance.

Had a reply, no, no, no and your last payment for the finance agreement is 17th March (which I am quite happy to pay) and if you don't pay the charges we will keep adding to them. That's nice of them.
So my charges stand at £274.78 as of today.
Court claim next I suppose then?

You know, I'd be inclined to make your payment as per normal and then forget the rest.
Let them see if they can take you to court for the remainder.
We can always remind them of that fact.

OR how about sending you March payment with an F&F cover note

                          Like your thinking re F&F

Trouble is I have to be careful as the agreement is in hubby's name and he pays everything that he shouldn't!
