R0b if I have purchased a new car and removed the plate from car which is to be VT do I just say that the car is new reg formerly the private plate Reg No. or do I inform them of plate change before VT i.e tell them plate has changed and then do VT same day she has sourced a new car on finance which she will pick up Monday so was going to do VT then and take car off road on private drive*

R0b Just had a thought I would need to have new logbook in order to terminate the agreement in order to hand over the car. Is this correct?

Hi what email address did you use?

As I have already said in an earlier post, you can terminate the HP at any time - that doesn't mean you can terminate subject to XYZ. It literally means what it says, any time.

When you decide to terminate the agreement is entirely up to you. I think a little bit of common sense is needed so if you terminate before the private plate is removed then why don't you just tell the finance company you are terminating, it has a private plate and you are in the process of replacing it with the original registration plate. Otherwise, do it before you terminate and continue to pay the monthly instalments until the process has been completed.

If you are really struggling, pick up the phone to the finance company and see what they have to say.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

I have received an email this morning asking ne to fill in section 4 of V5 yellow section. I have no problem with that except it is asking me to use the date of collection as the sale date. is this normal or should I put in the date I sent the voluntary termination letter.

hi Autosec I put the date they collected but technically it was the date you terminated.

That's fine I will do it online when they collect. Everything going smoothly at the moment just worried about scratches on a 12 year old car maybe I am being too pessimistic

Thanks I have seen that but it seems to be the age of the car isn't taken in to consideration and I was wondering more what to expect with a 12 year old car.

I think Rob calls this very fact out in his VT document, basically, as Rob states
"The BVRLA standard does not take into account the age of the vehicle. Therefore, the same strict methodology applies to a vehicle that is 12 months old as well as a vehicle that is as old as 5 years or more. It is reasonable to think that the older the vehicle becomes, the more likely a car will sustain some form of minor damage "
so there is no concession for age of vehicle the tests are not subjective

So vehicle has now been picked he went through it with a fine tooth comb as though it was a brand new Ferrari. I now await the damage report he asked me to sign I said no told him all damage was there when we bought a 10 year old car.
                              fingers crossed
