  • GMAC /Shoosmiths v GlennM

Hi . I've recently went through the VT process with GMAC and after a lot of fighting I eventually got the car inspected and collected..
I've since revived a letter saying that I now owe over 500 pound for arrears and damages to the vehicle ..

(I know I don't owe any arrears because after I made a complaint I received a letter from gmac apologising for that error and explaining that a refund for payments that I had made and shouldn't have was applied to my bank account)

I havnt contacted them yet but since I have now received a letter from shoesmiths threatening further action if I do not pay.. the damage I'm asked to pay for is a few scrapes hear and there to the paintwork and wheels .
In my opinion these are general wear and tear with the car being more than 10 years old .. these things were pointed out to me during inspection but i never signed anything.

I don't know what to do can anyone help??

I'll move your post to a new thread for you firstly.(EDIT: Done - best to stick to this thread now )

Are Shoosmiths threatening court action and do you have a copy of the confirmation from GMAC that the fees were incorrectly charged ?

You'll need to respond to Shoosmiths with a copy of that letter informing them that no amount is owed. If you can do redacted pics of both letters I'm sure we could give you a hand.

Hi thanks for that . .. they havnt threatened court action per say but they did say that I need to respond and pay before not action is taken .. they also said if I can get in contact they might be able to reduce the amount I owe or set up a payment plan pending a review of my finances

        Standard guff then.

Dig out that confirmation from GMAC then can sort out a letter to tell Shoosmiths to back off.
