I have just had my costs hearing against DEAL and the Judge was more than happy to award me costs ( 18 hours of my time at £18 an hour) , in fact he even tried to suggest I could have claimed more. I claimed because the case against me was struck out for non payment by them of the hearing fee. All a bit of a farce really as in today's post a letter from them claiming £390 for their costs of travelling to the hearing and then during the morning a phone call from them saying they would give me £80 if I didn't turn up at court. They said they were on their way and would see me in court shortly, obviously they never turned up. All pointless really as it was obvious the judge had already made up his mind and expressed his view he thought they were a dubious lot.
I don't expect to get a penny in reality, they have 14 days to pay but am sure they wouldn't bat an eyelid in having a CCJ against them. Apparently it costs a £100 to actually attempt to get the money if they don't cough up, too risky.
I would recommend others to go down this route of getting costs awarded against DEAL, there is no court cost involved in doing so.
Strange that DEAL are still registered at Companies House as being a "dormant company" which means they can have no financial transactions ( apart from bank charges ) no staff, no expenses etc. I wonder who then does all the photocopying and posting out of all their garbage.
