  • Parking ticket in loading bay

Hello. I was recently given a parking ticket for being parked in a loading bay (With loading only signage, 20 mins) The attendant said that I needed to be a goods vehicle and as I was only in a 4x4/car I was illegally parked. I was taking parcels to the post office and also to the UPS collection point. This was my nearest bay. The code on the ticket is 25 and its a council PCN. Can someone help me write a letter to challenge this? I have proof of postage at the posta office and the UPS point. I was approx 10 mins. Thanks

I've moved your thread. Can you say which council this is.Loading is a bit of a subjective issue... in London loading bays are intended for the use of the general public in certain circs as well as business deliveries etc, but different rules will apply elsewhere. Loading would be literally getting stuff out of the vehicle not running the errands that go with taking parcels to the post office/ups etc.

Sounds fair enough ( but since when are parking fees fair )

        From Lewisham parking policy

        6.18 Loading period
The Council maintains the national scheme of a 20-minute period for loading or unloading items or other goods from the vehicle and maintain a 10 minute minimum observation period for goods vehicles and 5 minute observation period for passenger vehicles. If loading/unloading activity is not seen within these observation periods enforcement action will be taken.

Was the ticket attached to the car when you got back from UPS/PO ?

I know nothing about council schemes but it does seem as thought the operation was within the councils guidelines.

We saw him placing the ticket on the windscreen as we came back from the UPS shop. We dropped our parcel off at 11.49 and walked back to the car (Took 3 mins and can be checked by Google maps) His camera surely would have a time stamp on it as we are straight back to the vehicle, no shopping etc. The ticket says, first seen 11.49

Will someone on here be able to help me writing a letter? Is there a template legal letter I could use to contest?

Can you upload a picture of the ticket having redacted it for personal information. Also need a picture of where you were parked and the signs there.

It is very difficult to read anything as they are so small. You may have fallen foul of a "Goods Vehicle Only" and/or the observation times which exceeded the 5 minutes allowed. In this case I think Pepipoo may be your best bet as imagine the Council can only see the ££££s and not the reasons. Pepipoo may well advise taking it to a Tribunal.

Do you want to try emailing me the original pics - admin@legalbeagles.info*

if you are doing them on your phone, then after taking the pic, do a screenshot of same - just reduces the file size to a sensible size and keeps the images readable
