Hello, I have paid off well over 50% of my finance agreement but have been informed after spending £700 on a new clutch that the turbocharger has also gone and also something to do with the engine being starved of oil due to a known issue with diesel cars (apologies for my lack of proper terminology) long story short the additional repairs are going to cost in excess of £1500 and the mechanic said he can’t guarantee it’ll even work: it’s 50/50. After the clutch I just can’t afford another £1500 and the mechanic thinks I’ll end up paying more than the car is worth, plus without any guarantee it’ll be actually fixed. I think my only option is to VT. However, where do I stand with the mechanical problems it has? Will I be billed for these? I can’t keep paying £200 a month for a car I can’t afford to fix, that will have cost me more than the value with no guarantee of it even working. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi, sorry I don't have any advice for you, but I was wondering if you have any updates with what you proceeded to do?
Is your mechanic from an independent garage? I've personally been quoted by the dealership garage 10k to replace the engine in my PCP car and from the beginning I've been told the car can only have work done in the dealership garage. My car is on warranty (they don't want to cover the full repair only 10%), but today I went to an independent garage where the mechanic quoted me 2k to replace with a used engine which is much better. Not sure if this would break my warranty or GFV. Just wondering if you have any experience/knowledge in this as it's my first PCP agreement.
I've also been wondering of doing VT in my situation but concerned with the costs they could possibly hit me with. I'm not sure how much I can put the engine failure as reasonable wear and tear and if they'd accept it. My car has also had so many issues with the turbocharger, it had to be repaired 3 times, and it was never quite normal, but I'm not sure why your mechanic said he can't guarantee it would work?
Thank you.
