  • PCN wrong registration

    Hello, I am new to the forum and would appreciate any advice on the following matter.

    I parked a courtesy car in a private car park which I regularly park in (Bank Car Park at Victoria Quays).

    I paid in the usual way on Twin app, but mistakenly used the wrong number plate when paying (I didn’t actually enter the wrong details, the app just used the reg from my own car by default, and I completely forgot to edit it).

    I have subsequently received an email from the courtesy car provider (Enterprise) saying they will charge an admin fee of £35 to process the parking charge notice from Bank Car Park. I suspect I will have to take that on the chin as I have looked back at the paperwork I signed with Enterprise and that says I am liable for such fees.

    However, the email from Enterprise suggests they will pass on my details to Bank Car Park who will presumably send me a PCN in due course. Given I have actually paid the parking fee, what are my chances of successfully challenging the PCN if/when it lands? The number plate used in the app and the number plate of the car that was actually parked are entirely different (for the reasons mentioned above).

    If you appeal the Notice to Keeper when it lands on your doormat, you should manage to have the charge reduced to £20.
    If there are errors on the NTK you may manage to pay nothing, but that might take some work!

      Thank you very much for the reply. That is where I had got to with my own research. If it’s a minor mistake with the entry of the reg plate then there should be no charge, but if it’s a more fundamental error (as per my situation), then £20. The only thing I wasn’t sure about is whether that only applies to those operators that are signed up to the BPA or equivalent.

      I thought one potential solution might be to appeal on the grounds you have described, and, in parallel, under separate cover, send them a WPSATC letter offering £20 in full and final settlement.

        Can you post up a copy (redacted ) of the parking charge notIce and also a link to the Enterprise T&Cs?

        The operators must be members of an accredited parking association, and since the !st October there is only one code (https://www.britishparking.co.uk/wri...ofPractice.pdf) annex F3 )
        No reason not to refer them to the code (annex F3 applies ) and offer £20 in full & final (mark it "without prejudice")
        Do not identify the driver if writing to them)
