  • Voluntary termination and reconditioned engine fitted

Just looking for some advise. I want to exercise my right to voluntary termination. The contract ends next January and having spoken to Barclays Finance.they have confirmed I am entitled to do this. However the car had to have a reconditioned engine fitted last year and I haven't as yet update V5 document. The car is perfect working order and I have official documentation on from the engine fitters. I'm concerned there are going to be charges levied against wear and tear based on it not being the original engine and also should I notify DVLA and update V5 doc before it is collected/taken to auction? Is this something that is checked?

I realise it has been replaced, but do you actually have permission to replace the engine in a car you don't own?

I have no idea as to the answer, but clearly this will affect it's value - I am worried for you TBH.

Why did the car need the engine replacing ?

Yes you should inform DVLA asap for the V5 as the engine number will be wrong, if not disclosed / checked at the time of VT it may cause problems ( and expense ) further along so it would be best to make sure everything is right now.

Do you have a copy of the finance agreement ? as there may be terms in there regarding repairs during the period of the agreement.
