After numerous emails back and forth appealing against a LO for Council Tax and bailiff visits, I get a decision this morning:

Miss *****I have asked a benefits representative to review your benefit entitlement based on the most recent information you have provided.
They have recalculated your entitlement and it has left nothing to pay, I have removed the costs from the account and instructed Rossendale’s to close the matter.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Its the relationship between councils, company's like rossenrobbers, and how cases like yours are reported across the accounts systems that interest me.

Think its important to claim for any Benefits a person is entitled to.
Give all the Information about your circunstances and income don't forget to copy everything and do it all in writing.

Yep - Silly thing is, I WAS claiming CTB all the time I lived there, I got a JSA sanction that messed up my CTB claim for 2 weeks (I wasn't told this at the time) and when I moved to a different county, my old Housing Association told the previous council a false date for end of tenancy (said I left after I did).

The council sent bills, a summons etc... to the wrong address (which they admitted to me in emails) and the first I actually know
of any of this was a knock on the door from a bailiff!!

It's been under appeal since that first visit (12th June 2014) so I don't think I've done too bad :tinysmile_twink_t2:

Excellent result, now make sure you keep any award letters and correspondence wiping the debt, as Tossendaes are facey enought to still call even though they are not now entitled to do so.

Notice of Enforcement #1 and #2 (hand delivered 4 days apart) - notice the `10p difference in amount due, and in #2 there's no mention of £150 payment needed in order to start installments!

This was the first I even knew of any "debt" - I had received NOTHING from either the council or Tossendales prior to #1

when the time is right, i will explain fully, but aty the mo, its all complex arguments with courts and regulators mainly about who is taking responsibility.

In your case, you would have been reported as a success in the accounts for a specific marker that all councils have to report. This marker is fore external audit. If it hits below a certan %, the accounts get auditod.

I number of councils have been using this to lift 1000s of accounts off the correct reporting systems. so the published rate is better.. like i siad, all boaring at the mo
