  • Money laundering checks

Is there a min amount of money that triggers money laudrey? We have provided £2,000 to my son towards the purchase of his property. The solicitors need the money trail for this amount. It seems a lot of work for a small amount. We feel the solicitors are been over cautious or generating delays for completion.
    any thoughts/comments out there please

What info are they asking for - normally you'd have to sign something to say it's a gift not a loan - but a full trail of where you got the £2k from seems excessive - is it part of his deposit ? Is it asking for more than just 'from savings' ?
