  • Been given notice to move

Our landlord has given us notice to move from the two bedroom flat we live in. We have two children, girl and boy, both at senior school who share a single bedroom.

Question is, how do we get to find a three bedroom house to rent, when we have an old chequered credit file and everything is so expensive now? We have lived here for about five years when rents were a lot less than they are now.

We owe money to a housing association from about five years ago and haven't been able to repay it. My wife's credit file is almost clean with only a couple of defaults to fall off. She has managed a couple of credit cards well and her credit file says she has "fair" credit rating.

Will we end up homeless because we cannot afford the higher rents or is there anything we can do?

    Thanks

With two children in highschool, they old enough for you to qualify for a 3 bed property ... could you contact your local council requesting re-homing due to overcrowding (and upcoming loss of current house? As far as I am aware, they have a 'duty' to assist - and you should be classed as 'priority' due to your circumstances.
Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

Thank you nemesis and Kati for replying. They want to sell their property like a lot of landlords at the moment.

Will call them and post how I get on.
