I've been looking for a lawyer specialising in Right to Buy for over a year now. Tried CAB, Law Society and all other possible avenues. It seems conveyancing solicitors do not know Housing Act 1985 and housing lawyers do not know Part V of the above act. I would very much appreciate any advice on how to find a lawyer who can help me with this.

There are a good few people on here with experience in these things. And its a good idea to get a few opinions prior to taking it to a legal person.. you would just need to put down some detail to get the right advisecrazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even

Re: Right to Buy legal advice needed
OK, I will try to sum up the 18+month saga.
I am trying to get my head round my options regarding sorting out the mess with our RTB, created by our landlord due to their lack of knowledge of the current legislation, belligerence and general hostility towards tenants.
To cut the long story short the landlord hasn't applied the provisions of the HA correctly and as the result we are set to lose a significant amount of money. I know that I could take them to court under s.181, but unfortunately the time is running out and our mortgage will expire very shortly. Since I haven't been able to find a lawyer I was unable to file the claim- I think self-representing in such a case would be insane.
My guess is it will be harder to contest the issues with incorrectly applied discount and refund due under s.153B after we finalise the purchase? Is there any way we can ensure that we can still take the matters to court? Such as making a statement that we are in disagreement about the terms they are offering and are only signing the paperwork under duress, so as not to lose our mortgage offer?
I am thinking about taking it to the Local Government Ombudsman, but from what I am seeing on their website the LGO refuses to deal with RTB cases as she thinks they should be dealt with by the courts.
I would very much appreciate any advice.

Re: Right to Buy legal advice needed
It is a council. They've made a mistake with calculating the discount. They are also refusing to refund rent due under s.153B.
They have repeatedly put this in writing and I repeatedly wrote to them that they are wrong.
