  • Help! Landlord breaks in and take our stuffs

Hello, we are 3 oversea students renting a house, I have another post 2 days ago regarding the deposit for this house, LInk:*https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...531443-deposit*.* There is an update, which is the landlord broke in the house and take our stuffs and clear the whole house. This is the background, me and another rommmate back to our country 2 month ago due to the COVID-19 problem, there was only one roommate staying in the house in the passing 2 months, and he went back to his home country on 7/7/2020 (Landlord knows the last person will be gone too, but we never tell him we won't be back). However, the roommate left UK with me two months ago back to the UK yesterday, and he tells us that our stuffs in our rooms are gone, landlord admits he took everything, some of our stuffs are very valueable, AJ shoes, Burberry cloth, LV bag, those worth more than a few thousands pounds. We believe he thought we won't be going back in this circumstance, so he clears everything, and going to let the house to someone else. The thing is even we know we might not go back to the UK, we still pay the rent to 15/9/2020, which is the date our contract supposed to end. We've already called the police, He claimed it is the cleaner who took it and will return it back to us in next few days(I believe can't be everything, somethings must be thrown already). What can we do in this circumstance, he has all the rent and all our deposit, he even threaten he spent £900 to hire the cleaner to clean the house and we need to pay for that(that is a break in when we are not in the house, not hiring cleaner for us). Me and another roommate are probably not going back to UK for good, so there is only one of us still in the UK now. Can anyone gives some suggestions how can we get our stuffs, deposit or may be even end the contract to get the money back for remaining period of contract?*

Sorry you are being unclear did you sign rent agreement and agree rent for specified time and due to unforeseen vivid flee even though it was in your contract you rented for specified time sorry but landlords have mortgages to pay not carte blanche equally there are a lot of unscrupulous landlords.
Did you moonlight fleet? IE just leave no explanation* what were your contractual terms notice unforeseen events ?Did landlord see it was cleaner or former housemate sorry but you see where I am going*
You left did not pay rent presumably signed an. Agreement so couldn't be rented out to others reserved for you had. Mate who stayed then scuppered and your designer gear for?
âsorry if so much designer gear why not pay your dues and honour rent agreement*
âIf landlord did steal report to police sorry maybe I have goylt you wrong but eh hello*

Hello, we didn't flee. Our rental agreement is between15/9/2019 and 15/9/2020. 2 of us left UK two months ago due to Coronovirus, but we still paid the rent, and we've paid the rent to 15/9/2020, so this is definitely in our tenancy period. And it is the landlord who took our stuffs instead of thief, he admitted that. The landlord took our rent, break in to take our stuffs and clear the house without our permission. I think this is in breach of contract. Don't think the police can help us to end the contract and get back the money we've paid. Hiring lawer is our last solution as we know that is expensive, just wonder if anyone can give some suggestions?

Did you pay a deposit, has that been returned and was it registered with a deposit scheme?
