  • Miss-selling

I employed the services of a kitchen fitter but he did a terrible job. He advertised his company by saying it had been trading for 15 years. In fact, it was set up in December 2018. I employed him on the strength of his experience. Is this a case of miss-selling? I am thinking of going to the Small Claims Court.

He may have been trading for 15 years but only set up as a ltd company in Dec 18. Do you have a copy of the advert ?

Have you asked the fitter to rectify the issues with the kitchen ?

He came back to rectify issues but the plumbing leaked and we decided not to ask him back. We have a young child and were concerned for her safety with some of the unit doors.
On his advert he names his company and then says we have been trading for over 15 years. I checked with Companies House. It told me the plc was set up in December 2018.

I should add that he said he would replace a row of tiles above the worktops on his estimate. He has billed us for this work but hasn't done it. Is this breach of contract?
