• Specific Legal Reference Points

Does anyone know a website or book where I can research case law as a point of reference?
Specific issues I would like to research are.on housing deposits and rent in advance and how decisions are made to distinguish between them, damage awards for breach of contract etc, etc.
Thanks.

The trouble with this type of query is that the vast, vast majority of cases of this nature will be made by District Judges and below and are unlikely to be reported.

There MAY have been a case which has been to one of the higher courts and is used as a precedent by the lower courts. Afraid I don't have the capacity to research it but someone like crazycouncil might be familar with the area and might be able to cite a case which assists.

Otherwise google and specialist housing publications might be more productive for you than bailli which is brilliant at what it does but is not hugely helpful for original research.

I haven't read it to see how relevant it is, but it's a starting point, landlordlawblog is an excellent source of information. http://www.landlordlawblog.co.uk/files/JohnsonOld.pdf
