    Re: Click and Collect Compensation

Whilst all businesses rely on good customer relations to keep them in business, in the case of retailing, good customer relations comes pretty high up the list of priorities. If you treat your retail customers badly, they will vote with their feet and take their custom to a competitor. This is illustrated perfectly in the OP's most recent post and his experience at Argos, who gave him what sounds like top-rate customer service.

Some retailers go out of their way and, in some cases, take a pride in their customer service ethos, encouraging staff to do what they can to give customers the best possible experience. From what the OP has said of their experience, John Lewis's customer service has fallen well-short of what could be reasonably described as acceptable.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

      Re: Click and Collect Compensation

A quick update for you all.

I have now contacted my local trading standards no less than three times and I am still yet to receive any acknowledgement or response. It is comforting to see that my taxpayers money is being put to such fantastic use.

I also at the same time as contacting Trading Standards, emailed both Mr Andy Street and Mr Charlie Mayfield regarding the whole shambles. I got a quick response from one of their pa's who profusely apologised and said she would look over the entire incident and get back to me. I am yet to hear anything back from her also.

I am beginning to question if there is any hope in resolving this. I would have been better off to go and shoplift the items I had wanted. Absolute disgusting treatment of a customer, absolute disgusting treatment of a taxpayer. John Lewis, Trading Standards both have one hell of a lot of explaining to do.

        Re: Click and Collect Compensation

Ah great, here is the response from Trading Standards which has taken over a month to materialise, three p*ssed off emails and calls, what a helpful bunch:

        Dear We Dont Care
The resolution of your dispute and details of any compensation you may be able to claim are considered to be a civil matter and advice on this should be sort from Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline. Advisors from that service are trained in the legislation you quote and are frequently giving advice and guidance on matters such as the situation you detail.
This service is not able to provide the advice you are seeking and I would recommend that you contact The Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline to help you with this.

        Regards

        Sarah
Is there any point in following the rules in this country. I feel so ill treated, yet if I was do go out there and do the wrong thing, I would immediately be picked out. This is a clear case of mistreatment, yet no one appears to be the slightest bit interested in doing anything about it. I am not expected to contact the CAB after waiting over a month for these idiots to respond to a simple email. The incident happened in November, it is now February. What sort of a joke is that?

I don't want it, I think it is an absolute insult.

Anything that involves me never having to use their terrible service/shop again.
I have clearly explained how disappointed I am with them, and they have sent me a voucher as a gesture of good will. They don't seem to understand that I do not want to shop with them any more and that their incompitence has cost me out of my own pocket.
