  • Non means tested benefit and Inheritance

My mum died unexpectedly in July.

She left me with £25K cash.

She also made a provision for me to have a trust fund, which I understand will stand at around £250K, my brother has been made apointee to mange the trust fund, even though its in my name.

I am currently on contributions based ESA and PIP, I am NOT on anything means tested.

Will I need to declare this to the DWP!?

You don't have to report the following changes because they don't affect whether you can get PIP or how much you get:
    • being in work, returning to work or leaving work

    • changes in your earnings or other income

    • if someone joins or leaves your household

On the contribution based ESA - how long have you been receiving it for ?
