  • Form A - Financial remedy

Applicant can claim exemption from a MIAM if there is evidence of domestic violence. Is a non-mol for alleged domestic abuse (coercive and controlling behaviour) deemed to be the same as domestic violence?

Are you planning to try this, in which case I would say give it a go.

Or have you sought exemption on this ground, but been rejected?

Trying to help friend complete this form. Already contacted a couple of mediators who will only sign off the Form A if he attends a MIAM costing around £100 +vat. Seems to be quite a bit of conflict ing advice re this

Is the issue the cost or the prospect of some proximity to the other party?

It's just that we understand he is exempt from attending a MIAM, so really need to know whether domestic violence and domestic abuse are classed as one and the same

Think I will suggest to him to complete the Form A claiming the exemption, then take it from there. May need a little help from members to complete the Form as some of the questions are not very clear
