  • Family Lawyer - Expectations on response

    Hello Everyone!

I hope all are well in this heat!!!

I am currently going through a family law matter and have a solicitor instructed but it takes weeks to get a reply to my e-mails or letters, despite her being a Partner in the firm, I figured if I instructed someone relatively senior I may save money due to the experience.

Due to the circumstances of the issue the length of time being taken is creating issues.

For example 3 weeks ago I asked for a letter to be drafted, I've sent two chaser e-mails and requested a telephone call to ensure clarity on the letter to be written a further week has passed now taking it to 4 weeks.

I just wondered what anyones experiences of Family Lawyers was in terms of responses or service standards?

    Best wishes

Get out the client care letter, see if that helps.

      Thanks,

yeah I have, it’s all about a ‘response in a reasonable amount of time’ there is no defined service standard in there which is a bit unhelpful.

They’re a national firm that only deal with Family Law stuff and I guess they are so busy but that doesn’t help me.

Concentrate on those of your enquiries asking real question, not chasing ones.

The standard does appear to be below what you can expect.
