  • Working an extended shift (15h) should I be compensated for my meals

    Hello,

I had an argue with a new employee that if I chose to work an extended shift (typically 8h) by 4 or more hours the company should let me know how much they will pay towards my supper/evening meal if I wish to have one.

Do you guys know if there is any legal statement to support his word is it based on internal company policy?

Company says that there is no law which states anything like this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Why would they pay you a meal allowance?

The only duty the employer has to give are the breaks according to the working time regulations

Why are you working 15 hours in one cycle

Have you signed the Working Time Directive "Opt out" of the 48 hour maximim working week??

There is no legislation to support this; it would be an internal company policy.
