    Hi all,
I recieved a allegation of verbal abuse to a service a user a few weeks ago. This was true however it was not ment as nastiness. It was ment in playful a manner. As they are young adults. The service user known it was ment this way am 100% sure as they said that knew it was before complaining to management. They was laughing and playing along with me at the time. As a another member of staff said to the service user themselves that this wasnt appropriate on both ends. They complained to management which is fair enough cause they got told off for me encouraging inappropriate behaviour. However in the lead up to this incident all of the other staff where exactly the same towards the service user. I thought this was okay at the time. But i generally dont normally talk to a service user in that manner. It was something that was said without thinking.
I am thinking of handing in my resignation cause i have a clear record with no dispinarys before in the past to nullify this one. I due to attend a meeting a in a weeks time. Which i know i am gunna get dissmissed afterwards do i leave this job or stay where i am face the music cause am 50/50 about the situation. Thank you

    Re: Disciplinary or Resignation?

It would help if people did not do management speak such as "Service User"

I am not criticising but some people might not understand the meaning.

          Hi and welcome

It would help even more if you could start a new thread so as not to get confused, otherwise we may read back and think those posts above relate to your case when in fact they relate to a totally different one.

There can be strict rules about being over familiar with service users, for both their and your own protection. It is likely to be a first warning and discuss what happened, why it happened and that you understand why it was inappropriate and why etc. Is this being treated as a formal disciplinary and do you have a colleague or union rep you can have attend the meeting with you. You have a clear record and if there is nothing else it would seem extreme to dismiss you for one incident. I wouldn't bring up anything about your colleagues talking in the same manner to the service user as that will come across as a bit tit for tat. Just be apologetic, you understand it could have been misunderstood etc. They are treating it as verbal abuse on the report of your manager?

How long have you worked there for ?

I'll sort out your thread so it's on it's own.

This is getting treated as a formal displinary, only cause of the word ive used ive worked in a different varieties of care over the past few years. And i will be attending on my own as i can find anyone else and only 3 months not counting the time ive been suspended for and thank you x

                    Re: Disciplinary or Resignation?

I have only worked there 3 months not counting the time ive been suspended for. And i was thinking not to mention it about my colleges anyway and i do understand it could of been misunderstood like am actually horrified about it all. I know what ive done is wrong like looking back at it but it cant be changed its been treated as verbal abuse yes. So i dont know weather to count my losses and leave or wait and hear about what they've got to say

Ah, one of the guys up on the procedure rules should be along for the technical pointers, but with only 3 months service and using poor language then it is probably correct it has been raised. You don't have a great deal in the way of rights, but resigning before the disciplinary could be cutting your nose off to spite your face, it's unlikely you'd have a reference anyway so you may as well have an attempt at defending yourself and explaining why it happened etc, it could just be a warning/retraining... although suspension does seem a little overboard if they weren't aiming for a dismissal.

                        Re: Disciplinary - BeckyKent95

When they first suspended me they just said it was a serious allgation and didnt explain the allgation till they got witness statements from everyone else who witnessed it. I did recieve a very good telling off by a line manager on the day it happened and they didnt report themselves cause they thought the exact same as me so theyve kept me on suspension till the meeting but still on full pay. The manager who carried out this investigation have said that they hope it doesnt come to as far as a dismissal cause its a stupid mistake and ive shown remorse but its their duty to pass it on higher than them. So am right in thinking this is a dismissal. I am thinking not to look for another job in care after this one
