  • Interview conduct

I chaired an interview panel a few days ago, c£30k job so not buttons, part way through one interview, the candidate - without a word - took their phone out of their pocket and seemed to read a text message.

    I halted the interview.

    The candidate has now complained!

    Re: Interview conduct

I would have done exactly the same!! If they're more bothered about reading a text message than completing a job interview then they're not worth the hassle IMO :tinysmile_hmm_t2:

Haven't seen it in full but essentially that the interview did not proceed to completion hence not given fair opportunity.

                Re: Interview conduct

Clear lack of attention, lack of respect to the interviewer and employer willing to give them a chance. Also clear bloody arrogance which is demonstrated even more by the fact he had the nerve to complain. Ohh and lack of common sense too, as anyone with commonsense would turn their dam phone off prior attending the interview, but clearly he thought reading a text message from a friend, was more important to taking part in an interview. I would point those thinks out to him on the basis that his actions demonstrated he did not have the necessary skills or abilities (such as attention to details) that the job entailed, and it was his actions in the interview that he has to blame, as it was only himself that denied himself the opportunity.

Clearly a spoiled brat too if he had the nerve to complain and not realise its his own fault for reading his text messages during the interview!
